RRS James Clark Ross

Autosub Long Range in the Southern Ocean

A few highlights from Autosub Long Range deployments and recoveries in the Southern Ocean. There were a total of 5 deployments, for 3 successful science missions.

Some of the main characters you’ll see in these photos besides Boaty herself (himself?) are Steve McPhail and Rob Templeton, the Autosub Long Range engineers. Fortunately, they’re easy to spot, since they wear the red boiler suits, or the bright yellow high-visibility jackets. Folks from British Antarctic Survey, including the RRS James Clark Ross crew, wore the bright orange.
